Rocketseat Profile
Redesigning the profile page of a coding school

Project Overview
The profile page was functional but had been designed for the platform's first version in 2020. We needed to update it using the design system and ensure consistency with the technology already applied in other areas of the platform.
The product team was now working in a more data-driven, research-focused way, and the design process reflected this shift. One of the key insights from persona studies was the importance of employability, especially for securing a first job. As a result, employability became a central focus of the profile page.
Design Process
Internal Design Workshop: Kick-off session with product, education, and customer success teams to gather insights, feedback, and initial rough ideas.
Benchmarking: Analyzed profiles on education and hiring platforms to gain inspiration and best practices.
Data Analysis: Reviewed data from tracking platforms, previous user tests, persona interviews, and platform feedback.
Strategic Vision, Key Metrics, and Feature Prioritization: Conducted a meeting with key stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize features.
UI Design: Designed the interface based on the platform’s design system, focusing on all states, behaviors, and responsiveness.
Tracking Plan: Documented key metrics and outlined how to track them, creating interactive dashboards for the team.
Outcome
The updated profile was implemented, with key improvements including:
Portfolio: First version of a portfolio feature, allowing users to showcase links to selected projects.
Certificates: A section to showcase learning certificates for potential recruiters.
Open to Work: A feature that helps identify students seeking jobs and matches them with partner companies.
Sharable ID: A customizable tool for users to engage and share on social media, boosting the platform’s organic growth.
Additional features and potential improvements were documented for future prioritization in the product roadmap.
